Zoetrope

In 1834 a British mathematician named William George Horner invented the modern Zoetrope, it failed to become popular until the 1960s, when makers in both England and America patented it. A Zoetrope is a device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures. It became a revolution in history, in terms of animation because it was one of first devices that created still image movement (animation).

The zoetrope works by pictures being drawn on a strip, which could be set around the bottom of a metal drum, with the slits cut in the upper section of the drum. The drum was mounted on a spindle so that it spins and viewers looking through the slits would see the cartoon strip form a moving image. The faster the drum is spun, the smoother the image that is produced.

Persistence of vision is a theory, which explains that the human eye always retains images for a fraction of a second (0.04seconds). Meaning that everything we see is a subtle blend of what is happening now but also what happened a fraction of a second ago.

Evaluation Of Profile Video

My profile video, in all honesty it could have been better, as the focus wasn’t the best it could have been and the quality could have been better. The footage I took was minimal, but on the other hand I covered the main priorities of what needed to be spoke about. I also filmed in my favourite place and stuck to my original plan. The lighting was ok, it was under a bridge, so may have sounded a little echoic.

I think on the plus side I added some humour, with the ‘advert, im not doing it’ part. But also seriousness with my career choice.

To improve this video, I could have used a better quality camera and chosen a better setting, a setting with better lighting and also clearer sound. I could have used a lot more editing tools, but wanted to give a basic clear approach to the video, as that’s the kind of person I am (back to basics). I could have also have spoken more about the subjects I mentioned in this video instead of moving on to something else, as it didn’t really all connect. I also, missed out a lot of my script, which is always a bad thing. It could have been longer too.

Frame Rates-
Is formally known as the frequency rate at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. The term applies equally well to computer graphics, video cameras. film cameras and motion capture systems. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (FPS) - and in progressive scan monitors as Herts.
